In the charming section of old Nice, you can visit the lovely Cathedral of Nice that is named after Saint Reparate. St. Reparate is the patron saint of Nice. She was martyred in Cesarea, Palestine during the persecutions of Emperor Dece (240-251). Her relics arrived in Nice in 1060.

The cathedral was designed in the 17th century by the architect Andre Guibera. The church tower was built between 1731 and 1757. In 949, the cathedral was raised to the rank of a basilica. THe facadeshows the statues of the 4 bishops that were the founders of the church of Nice: Pons, Bassus, Valerian and Siagre.
